The MOT tests some important items on your vehicle to check that they meet the legals standards. It isn't the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn't check it's general mechanical condition.
Vehicles must be MOT'd by either
* the third anniversary of its registration
* the anniversary of its last MOT, if it is is over 3 years old.
